During our 8 years of enjoying our Romahome, we have made several improvements including:
Upgrading the leisure battery to 130Ah to allow for full independence, off-grid camping or using campsites without electric pitches
Adding 2 x 100W solar panels to provide off-grid power, year-round. This is in addition to the split charger which charges the leisure battery while driving.
Adding a Fiamma 280mm roof vent to provide additional rear ventilation without raising the roof
Converting all interior lights to LED to minimise power consumption
Adding 2 USB ports for charging phones, cameras and other devices
Adding a further four 12V individually-fused power sockets for powering laptop etc
Fiddy ceramic fuses replaced by simple blades fuses for easy maintentance while away
Lashing points added for safety to secure bulky items in rear eg bikes, mini 12V freezer, porta potti toilet placed in aisle
Easy gas bottle changes
Fiddly spanner replaced with simple thumb wheel
Hose replaced 2018
Roof vent:
Fresh air without raising the roof
Ideal for discreet wildcamping
- or keeping van vented when unoccupied
Four additional, individually-fused 12V power sockets
(also handy for running 5V USB devices)
2 x 100W solar panels keep the leisure battery charged. Overcharging is prevented via the charge controller.

LED striplights with two illumination levels
and LED bedside reading spotlights draw minimal power from the leisure battery to allow extended periods off-grid
